Cool design from Qubique

I am back from a couple of amazing days in Berlin spent in fantastic surroundings at the historic Tempelhof Airport. Thought you should have a glimpse of the Qubique tradeshow.

Cool designs

This LED lamp 1x1 by american designer Victor Vetterlein is made from factory waste and the aluminium rod can be bend anyway the consumer wants it to - that way you become co-designer!

chris & ruby have made an interesting new cutting board where you can attach a plate to the board. No excuse now to let the salad miss the plate :-) It's called the Transfer Cutting Board.

The twisted table by Dutch designer Erwin Zwiers comes in different shapes and sizes and cool colours!

What about that London Design Week

A lot of interesting installations took place during London Design Week. Just to share a few of my favorites with you..

John Pawson - the father of minimalism - joined forces with Swarowski. At St Pauls Cathedral you can now enjoy something usually hidden from the public. That is the beautiful spiralling staircase leading the way to the upstairs library. Pawson has created a precision-made meniscus – the largest lens possible to manufacture. This is located at the bottom of the stairwell.

Another interesting installation is presented by the Finnish institute and designed by Aamu Song. It is the "Reddress" a colossal red dress. Composed of 550 metres of fabric, the dress is worn by a single performer but can accommodate up to 238 participants, and will host performances, discussions and other events.

Well hello Sweden

Jonas Lindvall is an amazing Swedish designer. He has designed several chairs but one in particular caught my eye and that is Miss Holly. This chair has been designed for Stolab and is sure to be a new design icon in my opinion.

Enjoy!

It's Scandinavian

I have a huge passion for scandinavian design. One I really enjoy following is Ditte Fischer . She is a Danish ceramicist with a simple and cool style making useable beautiful design. Everything i 100 % made in Denmark.
I have just seen these beautiful bowls ment for candles but they can be used for so many things. No matter what the simple shape and eye catching coloring will look good in any home.

Also, Lars Rank is worth mentioning.

He draws on inspiration from Japan after having lived there for a while and has interpreted this into his own design. Look at these perfect bowls called "Dots", I have them in several colors and they are very useful for soy when having sushi. Very true to its Japanese influences.

Of course a good classic isKay Bojesen. All the different figures made of wood remains an interesting part of Danish design. Wood is very much on everyones lips in the design world and these figures is hard to resist - I mean just look at them!

Well, it ended up being a lot of good Danish design. Next time Sweden look out!
